An international mobilisation for the rights of poor and deprived of our world.
In this century XXI, more than a billion people have no drinking water at home, a human being died of the effects of malnutrition every 4 seconds is 25,000 per day.
Half of our world’s inhabitants are farmers, 3/4 of them still only work by hand. Ensure these peasants requirements so they can live for their hard work is one of the major issues of sustainable development. Beyond in India which has 70% of farmers, is a global equitable wealth sharing, all earthlings harmonious cohabitation, liveable cities, environment-friendly agriculture, a localized economy challenge and, finally, that violence is not the only alternative to millions of poor, hungry, spoliés, moved and having nothing more to lose.
Non violent marches
Gandhi had mobilized the immense strength of non-violence for the independence of India, the Indian leader Rajagopal P.V. the channels today to promote social justice. In 1991, he created Ekta Parishad, movement that currently has more than one million supporters. This Union Federation 380 local organizations representing those without a voice of India in more than 11 000 villages and social leaders shape “to the Barefoot” to help the poor to take their destiny in hand. Rajagopal organizes padyatra, peaceful marches to defend the rights of the poor.
Goal is the peasants and the tribal can live decent their agricultural and traditional rather than be forced to emigrate to urban centres – activities thus blowing huge and unhealthy – slum population or then suicide, irrecoverably indebted by purchasing fertilisers, pesticides, and seeds which have not kept their promises prosperity GMOs. 150 000 farmers themselves are suicidés in India last decade.
With exemplary discipline, in October 2007, 25,000 people walked one month, browsing the 340 km from Gwalior to Dehli, to force the Government to recognize their rights to land, water and forest. Results of this great walking called Janadesh (verdict of the people) were many: the most significant are adopting a forestry law protecting indigenous populations, the creation of a national Committee for agrarian reform and the distribution of land to tens of thousands of farmers. This action has intensified training thousands of rural youth to nonviolent action and the emancipation of women. Much remains to be done to ensure that this legislation is implemented effectively by local authorities.
The next nonviolent March under Ekta Parishad of 2 October 2011 2 October 2012 will gather walkers 100,000. His name is Jansatyagraha, or action nonviolent people for justice.
An international mobilisation in 2012
